The Netherlands [ENA] Savior of Humanity? Maybe. Time will tell; for now, let’s wait... The U.S. presidential election has ended, and Donald Trump emerged victorious. But here's a thought-provoking question: did Trump win, or did the Democrats lose? Many view the election outcome as a loss for the Democrats, pointing to a decline in the U.S. economy un-der Biden's presidency as evidence.

Others see it as a win for Trump, arguing that he accurately assessed the pre-election climate and spoke optimistically about issues like global conflicts and the U.S. economy. He prom-ised to make the U.S. the world's leading power once again and pledged to lower prices. Trump also frequently stated that he would impose additional taxes on goods imported from China and other countries to support local production. (Of course, China, for instance, would not remain indifferent and would likely seek to increase its presence in the European market.

This could be seen as an economic war. But then again, aren’t all wars, in some sense, eco-nomic? Perhaps we’ll discuss this in a future article. For now, let’s return to our topic.) As I noted, one of Trump’s pre-election promises was to end the war between Russia and Ukraine. In a televised interview, he even claimed that he could end the war within 24 hours, stating that he knew both Zelensky and Putin well. When asked by a journalist, "Can you do it?" Trump replied, "It's very easy." Considering that he now has experience as a former president, it’s reasonable to believe that his promises are not empty words.

Since both Ukrainian President Zelensky and Russian President Putin have indicated open-ness to negotiations, there’s hope that the war might come to an end. But will the war end permanently, or could it resume in a few years? And what would an end to the war mean for Ukraine, Russia, and even the Western countries? Personally, I don’t think Crimea will ever be a subject of negotiation; Russia would not agree to that. However, some Russian-occupied areas might be returned, while others could be up for negotiation. Ukraine may even become a federative republic. Western nations will likely allocate billions of dollars to rebuild war-torn Ukrainian territo-ries.

Much of this reconstruction work will be done by companies from these Western nations, meaning a portion of these funds will flow back to the West. But Ukraine will remain in-debted to the Western powers, forcing it to follow their directives unconditionally. Who will emerge as the true winner of this war? That’s a broad and separate topic. Briefly, in my opinion, a country engaged in war, with its people displaced and territories occupied, cannot be considered victorious. Returning to the topic, if we ask ourselves why the war hasn’t been stopped until now if it could be ended in 24 hours, as Trump claims, I’m reminded of a line from George Orwell's 1984: "They understood that the war needed to be sustained without victory."

If someone asked, "Who are ‘they’?" I’d say, "That’s another broad and separate topic." In any case, Trump has claimed that he will prevent World War III. He also mentioned that he would end the conflict between Israel and Palestine, noting that Israel must emerge as the victor. War only benefits certain powers; it has never and will never benefit humanity as a whole. The famous French writer Victor Hugo said, "Peace is the salvation of humanity; war is its crime." Can Trump be humanity's savior? Let’s hope that when he says, "I will prevent World War III," he truly means it and will bring peace to humanity, putting an end to crimes.
